INTER-TEC AERO is an aerospace design consultancy business which has extensive experience in offering the aerospace community practical EASA approved engineering solutions to those clients who are in need of specific modifications or repair solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Customers include MRO’s, operators, leasing companies and airlines, across the globe.


Our History

1997

Founded

FRED GORRIE

Established in 1997 by Managing Director Fred Gorrie, Inter-Tec Aero Group began as a privately owned consultancy operating as Inter-Tec Services Ltd from a small office in Kilmarnock. Initially founded as a one-person operation, the company specialised in providing stress analysis consultancy services to UK-based customers, including aircraft and equipment OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.

Following a period of sustained growth and the successful expansion of its customer base into Western Europe, increasing industry experience and demand for Inter-Tec’s specialist expertise further drove the strategic expansion of the organisation, globally. This growth necessitated an increase in team size, as well as a broader scope of technical capability and service capacity.

AS9100

AS9100 Rev D Approval

From establishment as a multi-person design consultancy, in 2005 Inter-Tec gained AS/EN 9100 approval, one of the first SME consultancies in the UK to achieve this.

2012

EASA Part 21J
DOA approval

EASA Part 21 subpart J

In 2012, following a period of market analysis of customer needs and expectations, Inter-Tec obtained EASA Part 21J Design Organisation Approval (DOA), further enhancing our service offering and adding a complete package of design, analysis and certification approval services. The DOA, covering the scope of minor changes and repairs to both small and large aircraft and helicopters, and established our position within the global market.

In 2013, the company moved to our current UK based office at Prestwick International Aerospace Park, establishing a strategic position within the west coast of Scotland’s aerospace hub centre.

In 2016, we added the certification approval for minor structural repairs to aircraft Auxiliary Power Units (APU).

Nacelle Repairs

In 2017, we added a further extension to our Part 21J DOA scope to include the scope for minor and major structural repairs to aircraft engine nacelles.

In 2021, Inter-Tec further expanded our scope of approval to include European Technical Standards Order (ETSO) authorisation of the C127b approval of aircraft economy seats.

UK CAA DOA Approval

In 2021, Inter-Tec Services Ltd obtained UK CAA Part 21J DOA approval, concurrent and supplemental to our EASA DOA approval, serving a wider of scope of certification support to both our UK and global customers. Furthermore, we delivered our 1000th DOA approved design solution.

Formation of
Inter-Tec Aero Ltd

In 2021, Inter-Tec Aero Ltd was formed, opening at headquarters in Sligo, Republic of Ireland, our new principal site of business for EASA approvals. In line with this, the Inter-Tec Aero business quickly secured EASA Part 21J Design Organisation Approval (DOA), replicating the core capabilities and certification services previously provided solely by Inter-Tec Services. From February 2021 ITS has supported the ITA business to provide EASA DOA solutions.

We moved from Sligo to a more suitable office facility within the Shannon Airport campus, a  strategic growth decision to provide DOA services from within the vibrant Shannon based aviation community, with an added advantage in being able to recruit very capable indigenous engineers and graduates from the local universities.

2024

Going forward – Focus on market challenges and growth ambition.

Expansion of the Shannon office, within Airport House, along with recruitment of several experienced aerospace engineers to boost our presence and capability.
